Eintracht Frankfurt Podcast

In the latest episode of “Eintracht vom Main,” RESULT Sports CEO Mario Leo discusses the impact of social media on society and Bundesliga clubs, as well as the importance and risks of media literacy in today’s world.

“A lot has happened with Elon Musk,” says Mario Leo. The founder and CEO of RESULT Sports has been active in the field of digital communication for over 15 years and is a sought-after expert when it comes to the development of social media. This also applies to X, formerly Twitter. “The worst thing he’s introduced is unrestricted freedom of expression, both positive and negative. This extends to radicalization and sexually explicit content that can be found on the platform because no service employee removes it,” Leo explains, pointing out a critical issue in the “Eintracht vom Main” podcast, but also emphasizes: “Every platform has its positive and negative aspects.”

Active participation – whether political, social, or athletic – takes place via social media; reliable facts and news are becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish from speculation and falsehoods.

This is also due to time constraints, as Leo explains: “Clickbait journalism leads to the spread of more rumors, which many people accept as established facts. Social media is a reflection of society.” Despite all this, the digital sector offers a “very relevant platform” in both the national and global markets, the expert observes. This is especially true in professional football, which is why Leo appeals to those involved to consider both the advantages and the responsibilities: “Bundesliga clubs have incredibly great opportunities with their media expertise.”
